Documents required for validating the caste certificate
The state government on Thursday informed the state assembly that it will be coming out with a notification in a month on the issue of caste validation certificate.

Gaikwad said, "The assembly has discussed this many times.What happened to the issue of those getting a certificate if they are blood relative?It should not be asked to provide documents from 1950.The state was formed on May 1, 1960," said Lodha, adding, "The nomadic tribe should not be asked to provide for residents proof because they are always moving." Other members who spoke on the issue were Dharavi MLA Varsha Gaikwad and presiding officer Yogesh Sagar.He demanded to know when the state-appointed committee on the issue will be putting up the report, and whether the state will approach the Centre for having May 1, 1960, as the date for documents required for caste certificate, instead of 1950, and accept recommendations of the Munshi committee.

The issue was raised in the assembly by Malabar Hill MLA Mangal Prabhat Lodha, who sought to know the steps taken by the government to ensure that those requiring caste certificate get it early.
"The issue has been coming up everytime," said Lodha.
Addressing a news conference here, Moghe said, "The application procedure for caste certificate and its verification is on the same lines as the passport issuing system.
